Hitting the Road!
On Thursday the Dwyers will embark on an ambitious driving vacation - destination Orlando, Florida. We will be caravaning with Mike & Vicki Gilbert and their daughter Shanay and her friend Haley. We plan on leaving after school lets out on Thursday and travel during the day to arrive late Saturday afternoon. We will be staying at the Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club (www.mystic-dunes-resort.com) in Celebration, Florida (only a few miles from Walt Disney World). We will stay until Friday when we start the trek home to Maine. Our tentative itinerary:
o Thursday night - somewhere in Connecticut or New York
o Friday night - somewhere in the Carolinas or Georgia
o Saturday night - Celebration! Florida!
I will attempt to update the blog while on the trip. We're hoping for an exciting, safe vacation!
While we are away Nana & Grampie are taking the Trek on a three-week quilting trip to Kentucky for the annual quilter's convention. Happy trails!

Hoppy Easter!
The Dwyers girls woke up early Easter Sunday to find that the Easter Bunny brought them each baskets filled with lots of chocolate and hid some egss (with more chocolate!). After church service, we visited Nana & Grampie then had Easter dinner at Nonnie & Gimps (along with assorted cousing, uncle, aunts, etc.). After dinner the troops braved the cold windy conditions and participated in another egg hunt! Cousin Austen had some trouble finding all of his camoflague eggs!

Weekend in Boston
This past weekend the Dwyers (along with the Gilberts) headed to Boston to try and break up the Cabin Fever blues. The men (Matt, Mike, Brandon & friend Damian) went to a Celtics game Friday night and a Bruins game Saturday while the women visted the new Amercian Girl store on Saturday (the Dwyer girls are pictured in their new AG t-shirts). There was also time spent in the hotel pool and at the nearby Burlington Mall.
It was nice to get away and go to a place where there wasn't any snow on the ground -- so there is hope that Spring be here soon.

Spring is in the air
What a great weekend, weather-wise, we had. Sunny and temperatures in 50's give us hope that we're not too far away. The levels of the snow banks have gone down considerably (the girls' tunnels have long since melted) leaving muddy, wet walkways around the house. Hopefully there won't be a lot of wheel barrow pushing through the slop left (moving fire wood).
Seems like all I write about is the weather and illness (speaking of which -- both have been improving of late).
Next weekend the Dwyers and Gilberts are going to Boston. The girls are going to The American Girl Store in Natick while the men are spending QT at the TD Banknorth Garden (Celtics on Friday night and Bruins Saturday afternoon).
The girls' activities are humming along (piano lessons Monday, dance lessons M &W, Claire gymnastics on Friday and swimming on Saturday mornings). Mommy is working with a colleague to coordinate, schedule and promote a program entitled "Navigating the World of Motherhood" designed to help new mothers deal with the stress (what, there's stress?), etc. that comes with being a mother. More details to come......

ER on a Saturday night!
My hat goes off to Jay and all of the medical professionals that work the emergency room on a regular basis. We had to take Claire in Saturday night as she was complaining about needing to go to the bathroom (she hadn't gone for over 12 hours) and we feared she might have an infection of some sort. We were in the waiting room for about 2 hours and witnessed one fight, one dog-bite victim (boy got bit on cheek below eye), a couple of women limping around, multiple children sneezing and crying, etc. Not a pretty picture. Things got a little better when we got into a room (though we "heard" another scuffle in the hallway while waiting). Claire had her temp taken rectally which seemed to move things along quickly! The doctor quickly ruled out c-dif (which was feared on Friday) and a urine sample confirmed that she didn't have anything serious. We left four hours after arriving hoping that we never have to do that again.
Just think we could have been swimming at The Senator - for Jessica's birthday (that's where we were when we got "the call" from Nonnie & Gimp. Management at The Senator graciously didn't charge us for the room and Claire was well enough to allow Mommy to join Nedra, Gail & Jackie for massages & pedicures they had planned for Sunday.
I think that we got about 18 inches of heavy wet snow Sunday night....we didn't lose power and I was able to get to work on time, but a few co-workers are still without power Monday afternoon.

As you can see the girls had fun playing in the snow and digging tunnels -- snow storms like we used to get when I was a boy (I'm getting old)!

New Year's Resolution
My New Year's resolution (six weeks later) was to do a better job at keeping the blog updated...it's been over a year and a half since I lasted posted! You probably wouldn't even recognize the girls -- so I will post some pictures here.
We're in between "seasons" right now. Madelyn & Grace concluded their basketball earlier this month but are continuing with dance classes and piano lessons and just added swim lessons which start the last weekend of February. Madelyn is involved with Faith Formation classes at Sacred Heart Church and recently made her First Reconciliation and is moving towards First Communion in May. Claire was sick most of January (a "mild" case of pneumonia, followed by the croupe and then a double ear infection) and while Madelyn & Grace didn't escape entirely, they weren't down as long or as hard with their colds....everyone is healthy at the moment (knock on wood). Just in time for February vacation!
Dad & Grampie went to Syracuse this past weekend to visit Uncle Bill and see the SU basketball team beat their arch-rival Georgetown in an exciting game.
Happy Birthday to Jessica - 37 on the 21st!!

Last week of Kindergarten
Madelyn finishes up her first year in elementary school this coming Friday and her final t-ball game is Saturday...after the game we will be leaving on a family vacation (loon Mountain, Lincoln, NH) for a week. The Dwyers are very much looking forward to getting away from our busy May/early June. Madelyn also wrapped up her initial set of piano lessons and she will probably have a few during the summer to keep it in her mind before picking up again in the fall.
Grace has finished her first year of nursery school and has one more speech session before she is done (though she will have to go back for a reevaluation in the fall to determine if she needs to continue).
One week before her first birthday, Claire is now starting to get up on her hands & knees and it won't be long before she is mobile!
Jessica's last day is Thursday....the whole family is looking forward to Storyland and The Whale's Tale in NH next week. There is a rumor that when we get back Uncle Bill & Linda will be visting from Syracuse!
